...In Which I Get Sappy for a Minute

So I'm not sure if you've heard, but there's a Pievolution happening today. Well, I guess you could say it's been happening for weeks, but today is the unveiling. The unveiling of weeks of trial and error, blood, sweat and tears and fierce commitment from the best group of people I've ever had the pleasure to be around and work with.

A few of my team members in their natural habitat.

You see, I joined the High 5 family over the summer at a time when I really needed a change. Well, not only a change but I needed something good to happen. I was looking for something fun and challenging, something I could put myself into and be proud of. My good friend Angeleana called me on a Saturday wondering if I was still looking for work and if I'd be interested in a part time job at High 5 Pie, making and baking and delivering pie treats to cafe's around Seattle. Um hello?? Of course I was interested, it's pie! Not only that but she had talked about her job before and it was one of those things where I would find myself completely filled with jealousy while listening to her. You could tell she loved her job and I wanted that too. Within days I met Dani and the rest of the High 5 team and found myself in the position that I thought would never happen. I had a job that I loved. Not many people can say that so I counted myself as one of the lucky ones.

Who wouldn't be proud to make treats like these?

So fast forward a few months and we were opening our own bakery in a beautiful space in Capitol Hill, hiring more team members and adding to our menu. A retail shop along with our wholesale business meant we'd be busier than ever. There was a lot of transition, a lot of learning and yep, some speed bumps along the way. We gained team members and watched some move on, got some great reviews and some rather lackluster ones, tried new things and succeeded...and as hard as it was to try something and fail, we did it anyway and we learned from it. I'm telling you, I've never met a group with so much heart.

I now find myself in the position of being a leader for my team and it is by far one of the biggest honors I've had in my life. This team cares so much about who we are and what we do that I've watched them pull together in these last weeks and offer help and support wherever it was needed. They come in every day with smiles on their faces and good energy and pour themselves into everything they do and I find that to be extremely commendable.

So we find ourselves here today, Pievolution day, and we serve up weeks of hard work and dedication and hope that you can taste, smell, see and feel all the love that has been poured into these amazing pies...and we hope you love them as much as we do. We thank all of you so much for sticking with us through these changes, being excited for us and giving us feedback when it's needed. We wouldn't have been able to do any of this without all of you and that support.

And to my awesome team: Dani, Anna, Angeleana, Stacy, Matt, Rachel, Addy, Iris, Kelsey and Ryan, you guys are amazing. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication. I am so lucky to be a part of this team.

Viva!

Cheers!
